One of my past clients, a High School network, needed help increasing their social media engagement… so I devised a clever internal communications strategy that helped increased social media engagement year-over-year by more than 30%.
My idea was simple – create an internal newsletter push every month asking all staff to engage with our social media accounts – it didn’t matter which one – with a relevant comment and/or share.
We would randomly select 2-3 staff members and send them cookies, courtesy of the Communications Department, with a custom message thanking them for engaging with our social media profiles.
About 3 months into the campaign, we were seeing incredible results across all social media — especially on Instagram and Facebook. We decided to research an Alumni that started their own culinary arts business, offering to work directly with them to provide the cookies each month.
It was a perfect match, like peanut butter & jelly. We were able to support an Alumni’s business with steady sales every month, driving awareness to them and our own business – it was a win-win for everyone involved.
